Other Island Services

Our main partners are the Mental Health Directorate of Health and Social Services. The Directorate provide the full range of statutory services including outpatient and inpatient services, social work and forensic services, community support teams, day care, residential provision and respite provision, occupational therapies, emergency and assessment services. The Directorate provide services for all ages from childhood to the elderly.

Samaritans

Samaritans is a registered charity, founded in 1953. It offers confidential emotional support to anyone in distress in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland,

Last year the Samaritans received 4.6 million contacts by telephone, e-mail, letter and face to face meetings. The service is delivered by 17,000 trained volunteers from all walks of life.

Samaritans believes that offering people the opportunity to be listened to, in confidence, can help reduce stress. The service offers everyone, regardless of background, the time and space to work through their problems.

Samaritans does not judge nor give advice. It allows people the opportunity to work out their own way forward, and it will acknowledge and respect the feelings of those people.

Silkworth Lodge : this is a residential centre for the treatment and rehabilitation of sufferers of drug and alcohol misuse problems.

Citizens Advice Bureau : provides advice to all members of the community in need of help and advice and its website has an excellent list of all local associations and charities.
